There’s something magical about spring evenings at the lake—the soft breeze off the water, golden light dancing across the waves, and that quiet feeling that everything is beginning again. That magic was in full force the night I photographed Brooklyn and Brody’s maternity session at Sylvan Lake.
These two are no strangers to my camera. Brooklyn and Brody have been longtime friends and clients, and watching their love grow over the years has been such a gift. This time, we met on the beach to celebrate their next chapter: welcoming their third little boy into the world.

What made this session even more meaningful was knowing that this pregnancy hasn’t been the easiest for Brooklyn. She’s been through a tough season—physically and emotionally—but you would never know it from the way she showed up with so much grace and strength. She was an absolute trooper, embracing the experience with such warmth and openness.
After the session, she told me how glad she was that they went through with it. She said it reminded her of how incredible and resilient women’s bodies are—how even through exhaustion and discomfort, there’s this raw beauty in what we’re capable of. That stuck with me.
It’s true—there is something deeply powerful about women in motherhood. The way we hold space for life, carry it with us, and still show up with love and softness even when it’s hard. Brooklyn embodied that power that night. She looked absolutely stunning—elegant, grounded, and glowing in her own quiet way.
We kept things relaxed and simple, letting them walk barefoot in the sand, snuggle under the soft glow of sunset, and just be present together. No forced poses, just honest, beautiful connection. The kind you want to bottle up and hold onto forever.
Brody couldn’t stop smiling every time he looked at her. You could feel the love between them—steady, joyful, and full of excitement for the chaos and sweetness that’s about to double down in their home. This session wasn’t just about what’s coming next. It was about honouring what they’ve built together: a love that’s deep, a family that’s growing, and a story that keeps getting better.
Brooklyn and Brody, thank you for trusting me to capture this sweet, fleeting season. Your story is one I’ll never tire of telling. And Brooklyn—your strength, vulnerability, and love are a reminder of how powerful motherhood truly is.
